Mattel Discussion Area

Located within Mattel’s manufacturing facility in Cikarang, this compact interior project transforms a modest two-walled corner into an efficient, high-capacity discussion area. The design accommodates up to 30 people simultaneously, with visual accessibility at its core. A large TV screen is mounted high on one wall, paired with a whiteboard, ensuring unobstructed views for all participants regardless of their position within the space.

The boundaries of the discussion zone are subtly defined through a series of dotted floor lines — a graphic and functional element that organizes the open area without the need for physical enclosures. This visual cue helps maintain clarity and spatial awareness in a busy factory environment.

Aesthetically, the space is shaped by a palette of stainless steel finishes and grey metal sidings, carefully selected to echo the industrial context of the factory while introducing a futuristic sensibility. Unexpected curves in the otherwise rigid, rectilinear material language provide a sense of fluidity and sophistication, setting the space apart as a deliberate architectural intervention amid the production floor. The result is a functional yet striking area that supports collaboration, aligns with the factory’s identity, and subtly elevates the daily experience of its users.
